CdM Spotlight Lorraine France

Bonjour toute le monde! I have arrived in Lorraine France this week. Yesterday I dined Al fresco with my friends who cooked me a specialty of Lorraine torte de flambe. The delicious meal was even better outdoors in the fresh air of Lorraine. We ate on the patio surrounded by tall green mountains and wildflowers. La Campagne as the French call it is like something out of a storybook. Driving on the windy roads on our way in to town we passed beautiful open fields with hay bails scattered throughout just like a Monet painting. No two houses are alike here, each has its own unique style, but all of them have brightly colored flowers sitting on the windowsills and balconies. This morning I woke up to birds chirping outside my window and chiming bells ringing throughout the picturesque town.

Today I am going shopping and sightseeing in Metz because the airlines have lost my luggage again! I can't wait to see what I will find!

Restaurant Review: The Boulevard at the Beverly Wilshire hotel

Beverly Hills the land of luxury, and plastic surgery is a must see for anyone visiting LA. I love to go shopping on Rodeo drive and at the Grove, a beautiful outdoor shopping mall. Another thing I like to do is people watch and I found the perfect spot at the Beverly Wilshire hotel, called the Boulevard. The charming cafe has outdoor seating so you can sit on the street and admire the fancy cars and people on giant shopping sprees with their bejeweled dogs in tow. The friendly staff is very helpful and they even offer validated parking which is hard to find in LA.The restaurant has many delicious options but my favorite are the afternoon snacks. I tried the mini taco platter filled with tropical flavors.

Of course I ordered my obligatory shirley temple.

Of course the best things on the menu are the desserts. My favorite is the rocky rodeo sundae recommended by my waiter. The giant sundae comes with cookies and chocolate and is the perfect way to cool off on a hot Los Angeles day.

Restaurant Review: The Biltmore Santa Barbara

Following the winding pathway up to the Biltmore hotel through the gardens and past the backdrop of the serene blue pacific ocean you can't help but feel a sense of carefree summer relaxation. The Spanish architecture and beautiful fountains throughout the grounds is exactly what you would expect to see nestled along the Santa Barbara coastline.

The Bella Vista restaurant is located right off the main lobby and the patio seating has panoramic views of the ocean. The hostesses dressed in sharp red dresses greet you with a smile when you walk in offering your choice of tables with amazing views.

If you are coming in the evening there are heating lamps throughout the patio to keep you warm from the cool ocean breezes. In the late afternoon the restaurant offers a popular happy hour special on drinks and tapas. As the afternoon goes on guests and locals alike fill up the patio coming to celebrate birthdays or just relax after a jaunt through the channel islands on a helicopter. Some sip champagne while others try the myriad of colorful tropical drinks offered such as the bright red rasberry crush..

The attentive waiters don't hesitate to bring a refill if you're getting low. The Bella Vista certainly lives up to Santa Barbara's title as the American Riviera.

The menu offers many choices of delicious seafood including the lobster Brioche sandwich filled to the brim with fresh lobster.

While you're waiting for you're dish you can also snack on the herb roasted popcorn and spicy trail mix appetizers at your own risk.
For the best part you can choose from several signature dishes on the dessert menu. My personal favorite was the honey roasted apricot dish.

Sweet caramelized apricots and lemon pound cake drizzled in white chocolate cream combine for a melt in your mouth dessert. Top it off with the apricot sorbet and tangy jam for the perfect end to a delicious meal.
