Add Some Color to Your Life This Summer at The World of Fruit Experience in LA

I attended the opening night of the World of Fruit exhibit and immersive experience which will be in LA all summer and it is the perfect place for bloggers, and anyone to come and get an adventure right in the city this summer! The World of Fruit is a fun exhibit for all ages located on N. La Brea Avenue where you can explore a colorful and whimsical universe of fruit and art! The night kicked off with a champagne tower and fruit cups for guests to enjoy as the party got started. Guests were invited to start taking tours through the exhibit in groups of about 10 or so.

This fun field trip was inspired by the founder's love of fruit from around the world and each room has a different theme whether it be polka dotted bananas or a giant watermelon nothing says summer quite like a Mondrian inspired display of luscious life size fruit sculptures.

Some of the rooms even bring the fruit to life with tastings. Stop and discover a new flavor with the dragon fruit power bowls in one room or take cute pictures with watermelon popsicles in the bright pink watermelon playground. I had so much fun exploring this cool new exhibit and even dressed for the occasion in my Kate Spade lemon dress and matching lemon print purse!

I went to a disco party with a giant pineapple and really felt like I could have been in the jungle with the hanging vines in one of the rooms. It was a fun way to start the summer and is a perfect photo op for bloggers looking to add some color to their feed. I loved getting to taste the exotic melons from Africa in the next room and was actually full by the end of the night! There were so many delicious options to discover.

If you are a fruithead like me you can get your tickets here!

LA Food Bowl Opening Week: LA's Best Fried Chicken at the VIP Party

I have officially peaked guys lol! Last night I got to attend the VIP Fried Chicken party at the LA Food Bowl at City Hall in DTLA. The exclusive event attracted celebrities and foodies from all over the city of angels this year. The party was part of a week long event to kick off the LA food bowl a festival celebrating all the amazing cuisine LA has to offer from food trucks to luxury dining!
The fried chicken party was full of the best friend chicken joints in LA all giving guests a taste of their most unique and popular dishes. Vendors included, Honey’s Kettle, Lucky Bird, Night + Market, Chef Kang Food Rehab, Hotville Chicken, Phat Birds and The Crack Shack.
There were even drinks and desserts as well! This LA foodie was in heaven with all the options. Proud Source water provided hydrating beverages while several other beverage vendors had even more fun options! A winery gave guests a taste of their Australian wines and Topo Chico mineral water gave refreshing fizzy waters for the spring evening.
The party continued into the night with dessert from Wanderlust creamery a delicious pink sorbet that you know I loved because it matched my outfit! There was also a DJ and a separate exclusive Doordash lounge where you could find even more sweet treats including Mochi ice cream! The whole night was a blast and I had a great time discovering some new favorite eateries all over the city! I will definitely be going back to LuckyBird Chicken because their sandwich was amazing!
Set in front of city hall the LA party was decorated with fun lanterns as the beautiful city hall building glowed in the background. It was the perfect way to end my week and I would definitely recommend checking out this year's food bowl!

My Stagecoach Look Day 1

Good Morning everybody! I am so excited to be heading to the first day of Stagecoach country music festival in Indio today! They have an amazing first day lineup to kick things off including up and coming singer Lindsay Ell, country cool girl Kelsea Ballerini, crowd favorite Jake Owen, and headline band Florida Georgia Line. I cant wait to rock out to some awesome music and do all the festival things! Check out my OOTD below! It's going to be a hot one so I'm going with shorts but keeping it country with my boots. I am loving my new festival wear by Sugar T-shirts, and today I'm feeling sassy in this fun "I speak French Fries" shirt from their collection. This shirt is perfect for the festival because it is flowy yet still has a shape and keeps me cool all day. I styled it with some jewelry from my favorite new jewelry app Kollectin! I went with this Fearless necklace because that's how I'm feeling in this awesome outfit! I wore this fun gold and turquoise bangle set because the Aztec patterns are perfect for some desert vibes and the colors compliment the rest of my look! Which band are you guys most looking forward to tonight?!

CdM in the Kitchen: Not Your Grandmother's Chocolate Drizzle Cake

This cake was inspired by my great grandmother's recipe for white cake topped with bittersweet chocolate drizzle but I decided to give it a modern updateby adding cherries, of course, and trying out the ombre cake trend I've been seeing all over Instagram. It's the perfect dessert for a birthday party or even just a summer get together with friends. Check out the recipe below and try it this summer for a cake that looks and tastes delicious made from fresh homemade ingredients!

Ingredients
2 boxes of White Cake mix
Eggs
Cooking Oil
4 boxes of powdered sugar
Milk
3 sticks of butter or margarine
2 bags of Fresh Cherries
Sugar
Corn Starch
water
Red and Pink food coloring
Unsweetened Bakers Chocolate

First I made 4 8" round cakes by filling the pan to half what I would normally fill it and then let each layer cool.
While the cakes were baking I started on the Cherry filling I used to put in between the layers for an added burst of flavor.
I pitted the first bag of cherries and put them in a small sauce pan with around half a cup of water and 4 tablespoons of sugar. I brought the mix to a boil and stirred the cherries letting them simmer for several minutes until they became soft. Then I took the mix off the stove and poured it into a strainer. I used a wooden spoon to mash the cherries up over a bowl until I had juiced all the cherries. I then poured the juice back into the saucepan. I saved some out and mixed in 1 tablespoon of corn starch to cut in while the sauce was cooking. I brought the mix to a boil and added more sugar then let it simmer while I slowly added in the corn starch mix and stirred until I found the consistency I wanted. I put the sauce into the fridge to cool and thicken to a jelly like consistency.
I then started on the homemade frosting. I sat 1 stick of margarine out to soften before putting it in a bowl and adding in the powdered sugar and a dash of milk. I mixed the ingredients adding more powdered sugar and milk until I had used 1 box of powdered sugar and had the frosting at a thick consistency.
I spread the frosting over the first layer of cake covering the top and then added a few spoonfuls of the cherry filling in the middle before repeating the process for all 4 layers.

I put the cake in the fridge to harden and let it sit overnight before taking it out the next morning and making a new batch of frosting for a crumb coat. After letting that sit I mixed the dark red food coloring into a small bowl of frosting and added a few drops of purple to make it even darker. Then I mixed pink into a separate bowl and put drops of the dark red color around the bottom of the cake and added drops of pink and light pink in the middle. I used a thin flat spatula to spread the frosting while turning the cake stand to achieve the ombre effect.

Now that I had the cake frosted I melted 3 pieces of the unsweetened chocolate and spooned it on the sides of the cake to make the drip effect. I covered the top of the cake completely with more chocolate and smoothed it out to add some shine to the cake. I topped it off by piling cherries on the top of the cake and sticking them in the chocolate as it was cooling so they would stay. I also added some around the sides of the cake for a finishing touch.
Cherry lovers will enjoy the bittersweet flavors of this cake as a way to satisfy those sweet tooth cravings anytime of year!

Spotlight: Summer Fun at the Ice Cream Museum in DTLA

Today I visited the Ice Cream Museum in Downtown Los Angeles where everyone was enjoying the fun and bright exhibit to start off their summer. The popular exhibit which already had several weekends sold out for the months of May and June while it is in town debuted in NYC last summer and is now coming to LA where celebrities and influencers are already planning visits to the made-for-Instagram exhibition with endless photo ops and colorful displays. The trend for interactive experiences that are tailored to digital and social media for consumers has really taken off and soon new virtual reality experiences will be the next big thing attracting people to events. The pop art style exhibit brought food and design trends together using pop culture phenomenons like "goth ice cream" and neon signs with fun sayings in bright colors such as hot pink as well as rainbow decorations inspired by the popular unicorn trend. Workers encouraged guests to have their phones out and take pictures embracing the fact that consumers are constantly checking and posting on social media. The exhibit was great for guests looking to get an amazing photo shoot and taste the latest ice cream craze of the summer such as Mochi and, appealed to all ages with games like ping pong and even a sprinkle pool to play in scattered throughout the tour. However, the fast paced tour didn't leave much time for a lot of information about the exhibit and the social media popularity of the museum didn't reach many outside of Southern California. I wore a retro Ice Cream themed look with my favorite Kate Spade "What's the Scoop" tote and hot pink Kate Spade dress. Check out photos from my visit below!

No detail was too small to be left undone and I loved the simple artistic design of this cool rainbow coat rack.

The exhibit was tailored to it's location in California and included samples from the popular California ice cream shop McConnel's and fun photo ops of popular SoCal landmarks like the Venice beach boardwalk.

Fashion Bloggers night in: Kasai Hair Salon in Manhattan Beach California

On Thursday night I headed over to the Kasai Hair Salon in Manhattan Beach California for their first Fashion blogger event. Beauty and fashion bloggers from all over LA came out to the fun event. As I walked in I was greeted at the door and asked what I would like to have done. I was offered a style consultation, blow dry, or color consultation. I opted for a style consultation as I've been playing with the idea of a new style for awhile. Kasai himself, the expert hair stylist who has worked under Frederick Fekkai in Beverly Hills (one of my all time favorite hair product brands) and styled celelbrities, came over to my chair and we talked about different style options. Kasai was able to come up with the perfect cut for me since I was interested in something low maintenance that I could style different ways. Next, I go tot speak with Amy the color consultant who gave me some fun and creative ideas for coloring my hair! Then Kasai asked me if I would like to do the cut tonight. I was not about to turn down the opportunity for a Kasai cut so I agreed. We headed over to the shampoo station and then back to my chair.

After Kasai had finshed Amy gave me a bouncy blow dry and showed me how to style my bangs different ways. I enjoyed a s'more flavored dessert in a cup while Amy finished my hair. I love my new look and can't wait to debut it at Fashion Week LA in a few weeks!
I enjoyed mingling with the other bloggers and tasted the delicious cupcakes and appetizers.

Amy handed me a goody bag on my way out and I can't wait to try out all the new fun products inside! I would definitely recommend the Kasai treadtement for anyone unsure of what style they are looking for.

Dorm Room Makeover: DIY stylish crafts for your dorm room

Tired of your mismatched dorm room? Do you feel like its too drab and needs a shot of color? Sometimes a makeover is just what you need to recharge. But how can you give your dorm the attention it needs on a college student's budget? Don't lose hope, because with these tips you can use your own creativity and create a stylish space that's your very own.  First off I would recommend picking a theme and a color scheme.  That way whenever you see something you like you will not be tempted to buy it and end up with a hodge podge bundle of stuff. If you are having trouble coming up with ideas try searching online for a major item you are going to redo such as a bed set or desk set. When you find something you like you can create your theme and colors around that. In my case I chose a bed set. I found a pink chevron comforter at Bed Bath and Beyond that I really liked. Then I came up with my idea for a neon beachy theme.

So you've found your theme and color scheme and you are ready to get started on your room.
First I decided to focus on the walls since mine were mostly bare before.

Idea #1 DIY Quote posters
Remember how you loved that cool quote painting in Icing but freaked when you found out it was $20? I decided to make my own instead. First you'll need an 8x10 size canvas and some acrylic paint in your theme colors and an accent color. Next you'll need to find a quote that you like. I like fashion so I decided to look there for inspiration. I found a quote in Dior's Little Dictionary of Fashion that I really liked. If you are having trouble finding a quote you could also do your name or the name of a town or city that you want to/have visited.
Next sketch out the letters with a pencil on the canvas. It helps to use a ruler so that all your letters stay in a straight line.
Then pick a light background color to paint the canvas. You can also choose to do a pattern for the background such as stripes. Make sure your background pattern is not too distracting and that you can still see the letters when you're painting.
Then you can take a dark color such as black, brown or navy blue and paint the letters.
Finally you can add embellishments such as borders, ribbon, or glitter using your accent color.

Idea #2 Modern art
If you still need ideas for your walls you can also give a nod to modern art. Don't worry this does not require you to be a master painter. All you need is 3 or 4 complementing colors and to know how to draw shapes. You should use a slightly bigger canvas for this painting so it wont blend in with your quotes. I picked circles. I drew overlapping circles on my canvas and then painted them in using my complementing colors.

I also knew I needed a message board for my walls to help myself stay organized.
Idea #3 Chalkboard
I found a cheap chalkboard at Target with a simple black wooden frame. You can also frame a chalkboard yourself if you want to. Then I painted the frame with one of my accent colors and let the wood show through to keep with my beachy theme. I added a bow to the top for extra decoration.

There is  always a use for empty space in a dorm
Idea #4 Use your wall space for storing accessories or other items.
I still had some extra space on my walls and thought of making more art when I realized I had no extra room in my closet. Being a college student I can't stand to see wasted space, so I decided to hang my purses on my walls. I used thumbtacks and placed my purses throughout the remaining blank spots on my walls.

Doesn't it seem like you could always use a few extra shelves?
Idea #5 Corner wall shelves made from cardboard magazine  boxes.
I have just a few small items that need their own shelf.  Magazine boxes, decorated with scrapbook paper, make the perfect corner shelf.  They are easily installed with three thumbtacks and can actually hold quite a few things.  These hand made shelves are a great alternative to having yet another piece of furniture to move in and out of your dorm.

Next I moved on to my desk. My boring desk didn't have any room for decorations because it was filled with papers.
Idea #6 Make your own magazine holder and paper tray
I looked at different options for paper storage but they were all really expensive. Then I found some cardboard magazine boxes in Target on sale. I went to Michael's and found some scrapbook paper that matched my colors and decided to decorate my own.  I also bought a simple white paper tray and decorated it with a chevron pattern with a 50 cent roll of pink tape.

Once I had room on my desk again I decided to get some more decorations.
Idea #7 Flower vase
Since I can't keep a pet rock alive I decided to use artificial flowers to decorate with. I used an old vase I had and tied an accent ribbon around it to make it fit into my room. Then I found some fake flowers at Michael's. I think this really brightened up my desk and added a chic element to my room.

Item #8 Reversible comforter
Make sure your comforter matches with your color scheme.  It's great if you have a reversible one so that one side might work well if the other doesn't.  Also you can flip it seasonally to change your look from winter to spring.  I mentioned I found a great deal on a reversible comforter that actually came with a matching pillow sham and throw pillow.  But you can keep your eye out for that certain pillow that will fit in with your scheme.

Item #9  Tie it all together with a super soft, cozy rug.  It really makes it feel homey and adds more color
