Self Care Tips from Style Queen Kat Graham to Start Your New Year Off Right! Plus Her Favorite Outfit to Relax In

Casually getting selfie tips from Kat Graham! (She says you gotta find the light ladies!)

Vampire Diaries actress Kat Graham is known in Hollywood for
her unique sense of style and love of sunglasses. The actress came out to the
star studded Simply LA fashion and beauty conference on Saturday August 11
where she talked about her sense of style, what she’s been up to since the end
of Vampire Diaries and more! I attended the conference and have been wanting to
share this interview with you guys and I thought the new year would be the perfect
time since we’re making 2019 all about self care and female empowerment right guys?!
She also shared her new collab with Foster Grant sunglasses
a fun and retro line of sunnies for any occasion. Graham said that she had
always had a love for 80s and 90s style and has still held onto it to this day.
She told the audience that her favorite go to outfit is a simple vintage
t-shirt and jeans with booties and of course some stylish sunglasses to
complete the look. Inspired by icons like Madonna, Cindy Crawford, and Grace
Jones she told the audience that she wanted to bring the idea of “eye can see
you, and I can feel you.” to her line. She said that often times her outfits
are created around what sunglasses she decides to wear first.
Besides sharing her amazing style tips she also dished on
how she deals with the stress of fame and finds ways to unwind and take care of
herself amidst her busy career. Her number one tip is to spend less time on
social media. She told the audience it can be harmful to constantly be
comparing yourself and your life to others and said she though it was important
to take breaks. As for how she likes to relax after a stressful day she said
she loves to binge watch the Handmaids tale on Netflix. She told the audience,
“Every time I feel stressed out I think about what Aufred is going through and
I’m like girl, you’re fine.” She also shared that she meditates everyday to
remind herself that, “we’re all the same and in the same journey together.” She
added another piece of advice saying, “Don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s can
be an information overload today and we should just kick back sometimes and
remind ourselves we’re doing pretty ok” Her smart and relatable advice is
something any girl can apply to her life.
The actress has been busy working on tons of new projects
since the series finale of Vampire Diaries last year and she talked about some
of her upcoming work including her role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and How
it Ends which is out now. She also hinted at some upcoming Netflix projects and
talked about her future career goals saying, ““After Vampire Diaries I knew
that it was important that I use my platform to focus on characters that show
that we as women have multiple layers and dynamics and we can be sharp and
funny and we don’t have to all be the same perfect girl all the time.”
Her inspiring words definitely left an impact on the
audience and echoed the need for more empowering female roles in Hollywood. She
shared some truly great self-care tips and left the room thinking about how
everyone can use their voice to make an impact whether that’s on social media
or through career choices there are so many avenues.
