Fashionable Friday: Louis Vuitton Series 2 Exhibit LA

The  Louis Vuitton Series 2 Exhibit has been open in Hollywood on Highland street for a couple weeks now. LA is the first stop for the new Louis Vuitton exhibit that will travel all around the country. I decided to head over and check it out. First I had to find parking in Hollywood  which is always a nightmare. The exhibit held in a big warehouse does not have any parking available for visitors so I looked around for street parking and ended up with a spot about 3 blocks away. As you walk to the exhibit the first thing you see is a giant red LV logo lighting up the dark room.

As you make your  way through the room you can read about the history of the brand on the walls. Apparently the official LV logo was patented in 1908.
The next room you come to is a mirrored room full of the faces of Louis Vuitton models telling the story of the new Louis Vuitton foundation in Paris designed by Nicholas Ghesqiuere.

As you make your way through the holograms you come to a dark  hallway with spotlights lining the hall very Devil wears Prada style.

The next room contains a video presentation about the Louis Vuitton trunk and the style of the design house. The interesting graphic designs and cool music can be seen from both sides of the room.

Next you come to a room with 4 huge screens one on each wall.

The screens each show a video of the delicate craftsmanship process of a Louis Vuitton item. A shoe, a handbag,  and a dress. the delicate and painstakingly detailed process is very interesting to watch if you are like me and interested in clothing design and construction.

Next you come to a huge white room filled with sculptures of modes wearing all white clothes except for their accessories. The room is all about Louis Vuitton accessories showing many pieces from the recent Spring Summer 15 collection. As you enter the room a quote from Nicholas Ghesqiuere saying "accessories are my favorite thing to design, they are so important to an outfit they are either emphasizing or juxtaposing a style" greets you.
The accessories pop out in the other wise white space and the 70s vibe of the Spring collection from the boots to the satchel bags is obvious.
The room also includes some historical accessories from the brand including Gretta Garbo's famed shoe trunk which she took to the riviera, and countess Clermont tonerres  travel carriage trunk.
Greta Garbo's show trunk with 20 slots!

Mrs H-L Vuitton's Champs Élysées bag from 1950
Mr. Casa's exploration trunk from 1904
A sales register from 1927!

After exiting the accessories room into the open space the first thing that catches your eye is a giant mirrored structure labeled the endless show.

As you enter the giant sculpture you are surrounded by fashion show footage projected onto the mirrors surrounding you creating the feeling of well an endless show. As the models walk on into what seems like forever the soundtrack from the latest show plays in the background.
Check out my video on the cerisesdumatin instagram account!

After finding your way out of the mirrors you can head over to the poster room to pick up your free Louis Vuitton poster which includes art from 3 different designers. You can also explore the poster room, which is filled with different posters covering the walls and a digital display of the artwork from designers such as Annie Leibovitz.

And don't forget to pick up your free stickers (2 per person) from the sticker wall which includes 13 different designs like hairdryers, lipsticks, matchbooks, and more.

The last room of the exhibit is called backstage and shows the racks of clothing ready for the models during a show.

In one Louis Vuitton show there are 25 hair artists, 25 makeup artists, 40 models, and 40 dressers. It really does take an army to make these shows happen.  The walls of this room are covered in pictures from backstage before a Louis Vuitton fashion show. As I looked around I was reminded of my own experience dressing models backstage at LA fashion week. Check out my post about it here! This exhibit was really interesting and I learned a lot about the house of Louis Vuitton. I would definitely recommend this exhibit to anyone who is interested in fashion or is just an LV fanatic there is a lot of interesting information in this exhibit!
