Golden Globes Style: How to Wear Winter White Like Amy Adams

Awards Season in Hollywood is just getting started and with all the celebs looking for ways to stand out on the red carpet with their style, the classic question of wearing white after labor day is bound to come up. In recent years this fashion rule has gone somewhat by the wayside however it still takes consideration and planning to pull off a head to toe white look in the winter. Luckily in LA it's especially trendy since our weather is usually still pretty warm this time of year. I attended the Gold Meets Golden pre-party today and talked with actress Amy Adams about her style. She was wearing an all white dress with a vintage inspired button down front and a matching white purse.

She accessorized with some chic statement earrings and showed them off with a cute slicked back ponytail for her hairstyle. She kept the look simple and minimalist and pulled off the monochrome outfit perfectly.
Wearing white in the winter works best if you keep the look simple and don't try to mix too many bright colors. Obviously the classic black and white combo is always an option though. Amy's dress was also a great length as it was a little bit longer than a tea length dress making it appropriate for the winter season. I loved the vintage style detailing on the dress which also gave it some classy character and made the focus more on the retro style than the white color. It's important to stay away from too much embroidering or detail on the white as well or it can get kind of summery. It also wasn't super fluffy and had only a few pleats which I would recommend looking for similar sleek styles. Her ponytail and matching boxy purse completed the hint of retro style in her look and tied the whole thing together.
I loved her statement earrings as well. She really used this look to show them off and they definitely stood out.

Wearing a monochrome outfit is a great way to showcase accessories like jewelry because it will really make things pop! Her style is generally simple but elegant and I can't wait to see what she wears to the awards tomorrow night!
