FWLA Day 2

I decided to go with a desert vibe for day 2 at FWLA. I had so much fun styling this look. I found inspiration for the hairstyle in the Free People ads and tried these new wispy waves under my hat from Kate Spade. I topped it off with this cute purse from Billabong. For the closing day of Fashion Week LA I arrived at 2pm for the panel on Fashion marketing. However the schedule was pushed back and the shows had been moved to later times so the panel hadn't started yet. While waiting, I sampled a strawberry lime drink with lavendar perfume spritz.  The other option was lemon ginger with bee pollen, mmm.  After I sat down I met a fellow blogger Lo of www.manifestopart2.com and we had a great time chatting about the event together throughout the night. Eventually the first set of runway shows started and I enjoyed watching Adil Bouarbi couture as the first designer on the runway. Adil Bouarbi collection was filled with amazing pieces detailed with a signature black and white print and many of the suits had a 70s inspired silhouette. The diverse collection included everything from business casual to cruise wear to evening wear. I loved the way the collection was styled as the first pieces were mainly focused on black and white and pops of color starting with red and then emerald green slowly started showing up as the show went on. The intricate beading on the back of the dresses was also another of my favorite details and this is going to be a big trend coming up this fall for evening wear.

Next up was the first menswear collection of the day an eclectic and artistic collection of mens dresswear by the Valdecio brand. Designer Bryon Garret was even wearing one of his own designs on the red carpet an amazing creation with an intricate peacock design on the back and a beautifully fashioned cape. This artistic haute couture collection also showcased bright colors and patterns which will be a new trend for AW16.

The next collection was a lingerie designer. The lacy lingerie looked even better in the afternoon light with the beautiful and historical backdrop of Union station giving it a boudoir look and making for great photos.

The following designer was Mena Lombard who came to FWLA from Miami to present her fun collection filled with interesting textures and prints. The long intricate coats and fun suits from this designer intrigued me. According to Mena this was her first time presenting at FWLA and she felt the show was a success.

Afterwards we got to see the designers on the red carpet and hear from the panel on fashion marketing.

Today the evening shows featured menswear designers and the two well known brands Konus and Moods of Norway were much anticipated. The show opened with Konus brand an urban collection with many stylish causal looks perfect for the California lifestyle. The Konus brand even gave out free gift bags with one of their signature hats.

Next was Moods of Norway and the Norweigan designers pulled up in a pink Moods of Norway limo to present their collection. The menswwear brand is very successful in Norway and has several stores in the US as well. There is even one on Melrose avenue. DJ and reality TV star James Kennedy walked the runway for Moods of Norway wearing one of their signature suits. You can read more about the collection in my article on James Kennedy here.

I had a great  time at the event and enjoyed all the interesting collections. The FWLA event was filled with many talented designers and interesting guests and really focused on the LA fashion market. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us next season!
